About UPSC: UPSC was eastablished on 1st October 1926 as Public Service Commission and its headquarter is located at Dholpur House in New Delhi. Later after independence, the commission was renamed to Union Public Service Commission. Its Chairman and members are appointed by the President and he also holds the power to give orders for Suspension of any members.
Union Public Service Commission is a large Central Governement Recruitment agency for all Group-A Govt Posts. Also abbreviated as UPSC, it is responsible for advertisement and conducting selection procedures for several vacancies across central government agencies. The commission is mendated by the Constitution of India for appointments of services to the Government of India. The Government is required to consult the commission in the matters pertaining to appointments, transfers, promotions of the central government employees. It is an autonomous institution and directly reports to the President of India and can advise the government through the President.
